Hospital Go-Bag


Birth is often a spontaneous event except in cases of induction or planned c-section. Either way, it is key to have a hospital go-bag ready 2-4 weeks before your due date. The last thing you want to think about while timing your contractions is what you will need to bring to the hospital.

For Her

Driver’s License           

Insurance Card                                                                       
                                                                                   
Birth Plan, 2 copies (one for hospital staff, one on hand)

Toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, hairbrush, hair band and make-up
                                                                    
A few nightgowns, robe and socks                                                                                                      

A few pairs of underwear (most hospitals provide)                              
           
Cell phone charger

Journal (optional)

Ipod, Ipod port, CD’s DVD’s, something to read (optional)  

Nursing bra      

Baby’s going home outfit, including cap and socks

A comfy outfit for mom to go home in

Something to read

Call list to announce event, phone numbers/e-mail addresses

Cord blood kit (if you opted to save chord blood)

Since most insurance companies offer breast pumps for new mothers free of charge, it is important to have the number of the breast pump vendor on hand, along with:
Breast pump brand and model
Doctor’s name and address
Mother’s insurance card
Mother’s social security number
